Meet the Founders
I live far away from my whole family, including my mom. She lives alone and has had quite a few falls. I worry, because I can't check in all the time. And when I do, I don’t always have the patience she deserves, which leaves me feeling guilty.
Velma has been caring for my mom every day since we started. She’s much happier having someone to talk to every day, and it eases my guilt. It’s comforting to know there will always be someone to make sure she’s okay, even when my sister and I can’t be.
I wanted to use my background as technologists to help others in similar situations. What makes Velma work is the human component. Along with our advisors, we incorporate feedback from caregivers, nurses, and what I've learned volunteering at Cornerstone Milford and leading reconnection programs at Compass Memory Support.
